The Modern Breakthrough
For upper-secondary schools, HF and adult education centres
The rejection of the academic traditions of the Danish Golden Age marked a major shift in Danish art: The Modern Breakthrough. This programme explores a period when new ideas and public debate brought art into closer dialogue with contemporary society. P.S. Krøyer’s portrait of Georg Brandes at the lectern provides the starting point for a discussion with students about the political and intellectual currents of the time.
