The Skagen Painters

For upper-secondary schools, HF and adult education centres

This programme explores how the Skagen Painters broke with traditional principles of composition and embraced new artistic ideas. Topics include painting outdoors, their studies of light, sky and sea, and their use of photography as a tool when developing compositions.

The programme begins with the museum’s extensive collection of works by P.S. Krøyer and concludes with paintings by Michael and Anna Ancher.
