Book a guided tour and discover the museum’s history and its collection spanning a century of Danish art throughout the 19th century.

Everyone is Welcome

We are delighted to welcome groups and offer guided tours on a wide range of subjects. Our areas of expertise include the Danish Golden Age, the Skagen Painters, the Modern Breakthrough, the Funen Painters and Symbolism.

When

Guided tours are available during the museum’s opening hours, Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm. On the last Thursday of each month, the museum remains open until 8 pm.

Please note that all larger groups must register their visit in advance, even if they are not booking a guided tour. Complete the booking form below and select ‘Group visit without a guide’.

Price: DKK 1200 + DKK 110 admission fee per participant.
Lenght: 45-60 minutes.
Number of participants: maximum 20.

Introduction to the collection

This tour will take you through the masterpieces of the collection and you will hear about the family Hirschsprung and the genesis of the museum.

Danish Golden Age

An introduction to Danish romanticism with artists such as C.W. Eckersberg, Christen Købke and J.Th. Lundbye.

The Skagen Painters

With artists such as P.S. Krøyer, Anna and Michael Ancher the small town of Skagen turned into an important meetingplace for artists of the late 19th Century. This tour will take you through some of the masterpieces of what has been called Danish impressionism.
