The programme explores the period from 1800 to 1850, the spirit of National Romanticism and some of the leading figures of the age. Among them is the artist C.W. Eckersberg, whose belief that nature should be depicted accurately, but without “all its imperfections”, had a profound influence on Danish Golden Age artists.
